Position Title: Manager of Labor Relations

Working in collaboration with the Human Resources team of the Metropolitan Division of Cerebral Palsy Associations of New York State, the Manager of Labor Relations establishes positive labor-management relations within the organization.

  • Ensures contract compliance with multiple collective bargaining agreements.
  • Conducts internal grievance hearings.
  • Participates with senior management in contract negotiations.
  • May represent the agency in arbitration and other administrative proceedings.
  • Provides on going guidance and direction to management regarding labor matters and contract interpretation.
  • Acts as a liaison between department managers and union representatives.
  • Develops and participates in training programs for managers in regard to employee relations, conflict resolution and union contract compliance.
  • Provides advice and counsel to managers and supervisors regarding personnel practices, policy and employment laws.
  • Evaluates potential disciplinary matters and assists managers with preparation of disciplinary guidance.
  • Investigates employee complaints and provides guidance and recommendation for problem resolution to department managers.
Ensure compliance with employment law including, FMLA, ADA, FLSA, NLRA and NY labor laws.

Education Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Labor Relations/Industrial Relations, SPHR, SHRM- SCP preferred

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 3 - 5 years’ labor relations experience in a unionized setting, health care/nonprofit experience preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of applicable Federal, NYS, and NYC employment and labor laws.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and conflict resolution skills
  • Must be able to travel within 5 boroughs
  • Proficient with Microsoft office Suite.
